The Hermosa Beach Friends of the Library, in partnership with the Hermosa Beach Museum, is thrilled to launch 2025: A Year of Local Authors with an exciting panel discussion - the Hollywood Series - on January 30th, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 PM. The inaugural Hollywood Series event brings together two celebrated authors: Jim Fredrick, author of Opening Weekend: An Insider’s Look at Marketing Hollywood’s Hits and Flops, an entertaining dive into the highs and lows of Hollywood’s most talked-about releases. Chris Nashawaty, author of The Future Was Now: Madmen, Mavericks, and the Epic Sci-Fi Summer of 1982, a nostalgic exploration of the groundbreaking sci-fi films that shaped pop culture. Event Highlights: 5:00–6:00 PM: Arrive early to explore our bookstore, savor star-studded refreshments, and strike a pose at the Hollywood-themed photo booth. 6:00 PM: The main event begins—a captivating panel discussion in the museum with these acclaimed authors as they share insider stories, fascinating insights, and reflections on their work. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to celebrate storytelling, cinema, and the launch of an incredible year dedicated to local authors. Admission is free, and all are welcome!
